Kronika was founded as a partnership between PEN America, Bard College, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and writer Masha Gessen.
We build digital archives that protect independent journalism from disappearing. Our archives — RIMA (Russian Independent Media Archive) and CAIMA (Central American Independent Media Archive) — are permanently accessible, open, and built to survive political disruption.
We are currently developing the Kronika Preservation Model, researching and documenting the threat we fight against — digital oblivion — and building three new archives. A new site is coming in August.
